Reduce the Appearance of Stubborn Cellulite Using Cellulaze™ Treatment

Woman with toned, slim legs wearing black bikini bottoms

If you are frustrated with the appearance of cellulite, the “dimpled” look that commonly occurs on the hips, legs, and buttocks, Cellulaze™ treatment at our Fullerton dermatology practice can help. Cellulaze™ is a safe, effective procedure that uses laser technology to melt fat and break the tissue bands that cause cellulite to form. Because Cellulaze™ treatment takes place beneath your skin, where cellulite resides, it is uniquely able to address the problem at its source. To learn more about the state-of-the-art Cellulaze™ system and how it can effectively treat your cellulite, contact our office today to schedule a consultation with Dr. William Baugh.

The Cellulaze™ Procedure

Cellulite is a genetic condition that you cannot banish through exercise, diet, or superficial treatments. For smoother skin, you need a treatment that targets fat cells beneath your skin. Unlike superficial treatments, such as massage, Cellulaze™ breaks up the stiff connective tissue that forms chambers under your skin. Fat cells bulge from within these chambers, creating the puckered appearance associated with cellulite.

The procedure lasts approximately one to two hours. During treatment, Dr. Baugh will apply a local anesthetic to the target areas so that you remain comfortable throughout the procedure. He will mark the pre-determined treatment areas and insert a tiny tube, called a cannula, under your skin through tiny incisions. Dr. Baugh will feed a small fiber optic through the cannula, which will deliver laser energy directly to the fat and connective tissue.

The Cellulaze™ laser gently liquefies fat, and contracts and tightens skin for a taut, smoother appearance free of dimples. Recovery may take up to two days and typically includes mild aches and pains. We may recommend you wear a compression garment during the healing period to control any swelling and bruising, and also promote enhanced contouring.

Treatment Benefits

Cellulaze™ can dramatically improve the appearance of your abdomen, hips, legs, and buttocks by directly treating cellulite. Because the predisposition towards developing cellulite is inherited and is a result of your body’s natural fat-storing processes, completely removing all visual traces of cellulite is not likely. However, most patients are fully satisfied with the results of their Cellulaze™ treatment. Cellulaze™ treatment has been shown to:

  • Improve skin thickness
  • Minimize dimpling, or the “cottage cheese” appearance associated with cellulite
  • Enhance collagen production
  • Improve skin elasticity

Many of our patients require only a single treatment, and the appearance of your cellulite will continue to improve for up to a year following your procedure. The final results of your treatment can last for years, particularly if you follow a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and a balanced, calorie-appropriate diet.

Candidacy and Other Considerations

If cellulite has dampened your satisfaction in your appearance, you are most likely a good candidate for Cellulaze™. Candidates need to be in good general health and not significantly overweight. It is also important that your expectations are realistic. Dr. Baugh will discuss your aesthetic goals thoroughly to determine whether Cellulaze™ is an appropriate treatment option.
